Cancer vaccines using AI gets research funding 03.06.2026

Researchers at the University of Oxford are developing next-generation personalized cancer vaccines with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI) and have secured funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC). Utilizing advanced AI supercomputers like Dawn, the UK Cancer Vaccine AI & Supercomputing Project, a collaborative effort involving over 2,500 professionals and patients, aims to accelerate personalized drug development. The core of their work is CIARA, an AI platform designed to analyze tumor biology and guide the creation of these vaccines. The MRC funding will facilitate the acquisition of necessary equipment for manufacturing experimental mRNA cancer vaccines and testing AI-predicted targets in patient samples to assess their effectiveness in generating anti-cancer immune responses.
