CGTN Poll: 83.6% urge vigilance against Japan's accelerating military expansion under new militarism 05.08.2026

A recent global online survey conducted by CGTN has found that 83.6% of respondents believe Japan's new militarism is accelerating its military expansion, warning that the international community should remain highly vigilant. The survey, which attracted 2,343 online users across CGTN's English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms, comes in response to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's first defense white paper since taking office. The white paper has drawn widespread international criticism for its extensive coverage of the defense industry's role in boosting Japan's international competitiveness and driving economic growth, promoting the so-called "war profiteering theory." In response, 72% of respondents said such claims were utterly absurd.
