Chain pulled after Uma Bharti almost misses train; she writes to Vaishnaw 12.04.2026

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after nearly missing her train at Jhansi Railway Station on Sunday. Bharti alleged that despite arriving on time, she was delayed by infrastructure issues, including a train blocking the track and a handcart stuck on the rails, causing the train to depart two minutes before its scheduled time. She stated that a battery-operated cart, arranged due to her inability to walk quickly, was used for her transit. Bharti also cited a similar experience at Mathura Railway Station, highlighting what she described as "insensitivity in modernisation" and urging for the integration of old systems with new infrastructure to prevent common passengers from facing similar disarray.
