Charlie Kirk murder suspect changed clothes before shooting, agent says 07.07.2026

During a preliminary hearing in Utah, investigators testified that Tyler Robinson, 23, allegedly arrived at Utah Valley University four hours before shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk from a rooftop on September 10. Surveillance footage revealed Robinson strolling the campus in casual attire and visiting a Chick-fil-A before changing clothes to execute the attack. Prosecutors presented evidence including a bolt-action rifle found wrapped in a towel, a screwdriver from the rooftop, and DNA matches linking Robinson to the crime scene. A former officer described the rooftop location as a "sniper pad." Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, citing the danger posed to the thousands in attendance. Robinson's defense has unsuccessfully attempted to remove the death penalty from consideration. The hearing serves to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial on aggravated murder charges.
