Thirteen children from the Baiga tribal community, aged between 8 and 15, have been rescued from alleged bonded labour in cattle-rearing units in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district. Police arrested 10 individuals in connection with the trafficking, which reportedly occurred seven to eight months prior when families were lured with false promises. The children were forced to work over 10 hours daily for meager wages near the Kanha National Park region. The rescue operation was a collaborative effort involving Kabirdham police, Childline, the Women and Child Development Department, and the child rights organization Association for Voluntary Action (AVA). The children have been moved to care institutions for rehabilitation.
