Children indoctrinated, militarized under Russian occupation 17.02.2026

Ukrainian children in Russian-occupied territories face systematic indoctrination and militarization, with authorities enforcing Russian language, curriculum, and military-themed youth organizations in schools. Parents who resist, such as Iryna, risk losing custody of their children, potentially leading to them being sent to Russian boarding schools. This pressure forces many families to comply or flee, like Iryna and her children who escaped from the southern occupied regions to western Ukraine. Educators like Lessja also faced ultimatums to adopt Russian curricula, leading to their displacement. The organization "Save Ukraine" is assisting those affected, highlighting that up to 1.5 million minors remain under occupation, with concerns that these children could be groomed for future Russian military recruitment.
