MTV Uutiset investigated the latest complaints regarding the school system issued by the Licensing and Supervisory Agency, of which 260 have been filed since the beginning of 2026. One of the most serious cases concerns an instructor at an after-school club in the capital region, who is suspected of sexually suggestive behavior and violations of physical integrity, such as pushing a child against a wall. The police are conducting a preliminary investigation into the case. Another complaint involved a teacher in Northern Finland who caused a child pain by hitting a desk with a pointer. A third case concerned a school in Pirkanmaa, where the prevention of Lucia celebrations was seen as an infringement on religious freedom, but the agency ruled that the school had acted correctly. Most complaints relate to teacher conduct, school rules, or the quality of instruction. In several instances, the agency has stated that municipalities have acted lawfully and that administrative guidance was not required.
