China FM vows deeper ties with North Korea on trip to Pyongyang 09.04.2026

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pyongyang on April 9, 2026, for a two-day visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties with North Korea. During his meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, Wang expressed Beijing's willingness to enhance dialogue, cooperation, and cultural exchanges at all levels, emphasizing the "traditional friendship forged in blood." This visit, Wang's first to the isolated nation since 2019, follows the recent resumption of transport links between the two countries, which had been suspended since the Covid-19 pandemic. Wang also referenced the September meeting between Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un as providing strategic guidance for future development in Sino-North Korean relations.
