China to carry out intensive space missions in 2026, says CNSA 18.04.2026

China is gearing up for an intensive space mission schedule in 2026, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA). Key activities will include the Tianwen-2 probe's close observation of its target asteroid and progress in the nation's first asteroid sample-return mission. The CNSA also plans crewed missions such as Shenzhou-23 and flight verification tests for multiple reusable rockets, while fostering growth in the commercial space sector. These ambitious plans follow a strong performance in 2025, which saw 92 space launch missions, a 35 percent increase from 2024. Preparations for a crewed lunar program are also advancing, alongside the expanded application of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and accelerated development of China's satellite internet.
