China's foreign trade achieved a historic milestone in the first half of 2026, with total goods trade surpassing 25 trillion yuan for the first time, according to data from the General Administration of Customs released on Monday. The 16.9% year-on-year increase to 25.47 trillion yuan ($3.55 trillion) reflects robust trade activity despite a challenging external environment marked by global economic uncertainty. Exports rose 13.4% to 14.73 trillion yuan, marking the 11th consecutive quarter of growth, while imports increased 22.1% to 10.74 trillion yuan, outpacing export growth by 8.7 percentage points.
