China expresses strong dissatisfaction to UK's unilateral sanctions: FM spokesperson 06.05.2026

China has lodged formal protests with the United Kingdom, expressing "strong dissatisfaction" over its recent imposition of unilateral sanctions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the UK's actions during a Wednesday press briefing, stating that China consistently opposes sanctions lacking basis in international law or UN Security Council authorization. The UK sanctions targeted entities and individuals from several countries, including two Chinese firms, citing the Russia-Ukraine conflict as justification. Lin emphasized China's commitment to promoting peace talks and strictly controlling exports of dual-use goods related to the crisis, asserting that normal China-Russia exchanges must not be disrupted. He warned that China will take necessary measures to firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests.
