Chinese FM: China willing to boost all-level exchanges with Sweden 04.07.2026

During a meeting in Stockholm on July 4, 2026, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. Wang expressed China's willingness to boost all-level exchanges and leverage complementary strengths to ensure a stable and sustainable partnership. He emphasized the importance of rebuilding mutual trust and maintaining correct perceptions following recent difficulties in the relationship. Prime Minister Kristersson reaffirmed Sweden's adherence to the one-China policy and expressed admiration for Chinese culture and innovation. He noted that Sweden seeks to broaden consensus and advance cooperation across various fields while supporting dialogue between China and Europe. Additionally, Wang highlighted China's role in global stability and expressed hope that Sweden will play a constructive role in promoting China-Europe relations. The visit also included talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard and Investor AB chair Jacob Wallenberg.
