MJ: Chiriac nominated Prosecutor General; Cerbu for DNA, Miron DIICOT chief 03.03.2026

Justice Minister Radu Marinescu has nominated Cristina Chiriac as Prosecutor General, Viorel Cerbu as Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), and Codrin Miron as Chief Prosecutor of the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). Marius Voineag, the current DNA head, is proposed as Deputy Prosecutor General. Nominees for Deputy Chief Prosecutor of DNA include Marinela Minca and Marius-Ionel Stefan, while Alex Florenta and Gill-Julien Grigore-Iacobici are nominated for Deputy Chief Prosecutor of DIICOT. These proposals follow a selection process from January 8 to March 2, involving 19 candidates for leadership roles. The nominations will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy for a consultative opinion, with key positions becoming vacant by March 31 and April 14. Candidates require at least 15 years of experience as a prosecutor or judge.
