Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero voluntarily rejoined the Senate session on Wednesday, attending without any preconditions or deals, according to Senator Panfilo Lacson. Escudero's decision was aimed at breaking the Senate impasse and preserving the institution's integrity, dignity, and reputation, which had been affected by the chamber's inability to convene for two days. Lacson clarified that Escudero's pending case concerning flood control anomalies was not a subject of discussion or a condition for his return. The Senate was able to declare a quorum with Escudero's presence and that of 11 minority senators, enabling the election of new committee chairpersons under Senate pro tempore Sherwin Gatchalian.
