A devastating fire broke out in a storage room on the top floor of a five-story building in Manlleu, Catalonia, approximately sixty kilometers north of Barcelona, around 9 PM on Monday, February 16th. Five adolescents perished in the blaze, with their escape hindered for unknown reasons. Four other individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, while one person in mild condition declined hospital transfer. Thirteen fire crews responded to the incident, which was declared under control by 9:41 PM. The President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, conveyed his condolences, and the Catalan Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, visited the site on Tuesday, February 17th.
