The Association for the Protection of Vulnerable Children and Women (APEFV) has sounded the alarm regarding the infiltration of Wazalendo fighters into several mining communities in the Bakaeku groupement, particularly in Pangoyi, Lulumo, Itembo, and Pakapela. According to this organization, these armed men impose illegal taxes on residents before disappearing, leaving populations exposed to attacks by ADF rebels. This situation has already triggered significant humanitarian consequences, notably following the recent attack on Pangoyi that left at least five people dead and several others missing.
