Colombia would take 62 years to indemnify all conflict victims: Truth Commission balance 03.07.2026

The sixth follow-up report on the Truth Commission's recommendations, published on July 2, presents a critical assessment of the state of reparations for victims of the armed conflict in Colombia. The document concludes that, at the current pace of indemnifications, the country would take 62 years to cover all registered victims, a figure exceeding 10 million people. However, this calculation could be an underestimate, as it does not include those continuing to be added to the Single Registry of Victims (RUV) due to new acts of violence, such as mass displacements, confinements, recruitment of minors, sexual violence, murders of social leaders, and forced disappearances.
