Comedian Bert Kreischer says blood clot scare may have saved him from dying in a tour bus fire 04.06.2026

Comedian Bert Kreischer believes a severe blood clot diagnosis in early January may have saved his life by forcing a lifestyle change that prevented him from being on his tour bus when it caught fire in March. The 53-year-old comedian experienced excruciating leg pain, leading doctors to discover significant clots behind his knee and in his lungs, requiring him to start blood thinners and abstain from alcohol. Shortly after his recovery, his tour bus, which was traveling between North Dakota and Iowa, suffered a tire blowout and subsequently erupted in flames, destroying the vehicle. The driver, who was the sole occupant at the time, escaped unharmed. Kreischer later realized, through a conversation with his driver, that his prior hard-partying lifestyle would have likely led to him being asleep and unable to escape had he been on board, thus highlighting the serendipitous nature of his health scare.
