Comment les drones ont changé la guerre en Ukraine : trois infographies animées pour tout comprendreil y a 24 min 21.02.2026

The war in Ukraine has been fundamentally transformed by the widespread integration of drones, shifting from a conventional 20th-century conflict characterized by tanks and artillery to a new paradigm where unmanned aerial vehicles are decisive. Initially used for reconnaissance by Ukrainian forces around 2018, drones, particularly inexpensive Chinese civilian models, quickly became crucial after the February 24, 2022, invasion. These drones now perform a multitude of roles, including observation, striking targets, resupplying troops, and aiding the wounded, effectively acting as eyes, weapons, and even ammunition. Operators, often working from camouflaged bunkers miles from the front, control these drones, which have expanded the "kill zone" to 30-40 km. Both Ukraine and Russia are now producing more drones than artillery shells, with Ukraine manufacturing an estimated four million in 2024, highlighting the emergence of a new, specialized soldier: the drone operator.
