Comptroller General: Head of the MEF directed contract to favor former minister Carlos Díaz 07.07.2026

An audit by the Comptroller General of the Republic revealed that Rodolfo Acuña Namihas, the current Minister of Economy and Finance, directed the hiring of Carlos Díaz Dañino as an advisor when Acuña was the Vice Minister of Finance. According to the report, Acuña tailored the terms of reference to match Díaz's profile, despite Díaz not meeting the technical requirements or the specialty required by the Job Profile Manual. The contract, effective from August to December 2025, amounted to S/62,400. Additionally, the audit highlights the relationship between both parties regarding the controversial purchase of 12 F-16 Block 70 aircraft from Lockheed Martin in April of this year. While the Comptroller General points out that the assigned functions were permanent rather than temporary, those involved deny any irregularity or preferential treatment in the mentioned processes.
