Sebastián Parraguez, a former constituent representing the Republican Party in the second constituent process, has been found guilty of three counts of sexual abuse. The Iquique Oral Criminal Court convicted him of repeated sexual abuse by surprise against a minor and sexual abuse against another. Parraguez, who was a high school teacher at Rupanic School in Alto Hospicio, engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with two female students aged 15 and 17, both inside and outside the school. He has been in preventive detention since December 2024. The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking up to six years in prison. The Republican Party has issued a statement condemning the acts and intends to expel Parraguez from the party.
