Congressional Black Caucus chair says Trump's post on the Obamas shows a 'bigoted and racist regime' 07.02.2026

Rep. Yvette Clarke, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, has strongly condemned President Donald Trump's social media post featuring a video that depicted former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as primates. Clarke, speaking to the Associated Press on Friday, described the administration as "bigoted and racist," asserting that the video's 12-hour presence online indicated a clear intent to harm. She dismissed the White House's explanation of a staffer's mistake, attributing the incident to a toxic climate within the White House and suggesting Trump's later retraction was politically motivated rather than a sign of a moral compass. Clarke emphasized the negative impact such content has on Black children and called for a united stand against racism and hatred emanating from the presidency.
