Convicted man punches prosecutor in Limassol court 19h ago

In an unprecedented event at the Limassol permanent criminal court on Friday, a man convicted of kidnapping a woman and sentenced to four years in prison physically assaulted the prosecutor immediately after the verdict. The convicted individual, while being escorted, lunged and punched the prosecutor in the face, causing facial injuries that required hospitalization. Police, reportedly surprised by the sudden outburst, quickly apprehended the assailant. Attorney-general George Savvides strongly condemned the attack, labeling it cowardly, and has ordered a full investigation by police chief Themistos Arnaoutis into the circumstances surrounding the incident. This marks the third recent attack on legal service officials, prompting discussions on the safety of state representatives.
