Cost-of-Living Allowance: FNS Records Increase in Applications in 2026 07.07.2026

In 2026, the National Solidarity Fund (FNS) is facing a significant increase in applications for cost-of-living allowances. Between January 1 and May 31, the service has already recorded 22,203 applications, representing 70% of the total volume from 2025. The Minister for Family, Max Hahn, specified that 12,390 allowances were paid out via the REVIS automated system, while 17,700 files remain pending processing. To address this pressure, recruitment is underway to strengthen the current workforce of 12.45 full-time equivalents. Furthermore, the future introduction of the "Cost-of-Living Supplement" (CVC) aims to simplify administrative procedures by allowing automatic payments without the need for a new annual application, thereby optimizing service efficiency for beneficiaries.
