The couple, who were responsible for the child's care, face charges under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, potentially carrying a RM50,000 fine and/or up to 20 years imprisonment. The prosecution objected to bail, citing the offense's severity and Hamzi Amni's criminal history, but bail was set at RM20,000 each with one surety, requiring them to report to the police twice monthly and stay away from the victim.
