Crue de la Gimone : le haras se défend après l’attaque du maire de Beaumont sur la hauteur de sa digue 20.02.2026

The Sémeillon family, owners of the Haras du Padoueng in Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Tarn-et-Garonne, are facing criticism following recent floods of the Gimone river. Mayor Jean-Luc Deprince alleges that the family's unauthorized 70-centimeter elevation of a protective dike in 2010 exacerbated the flooding on the left bank. Jean-Philippe Sémeillon, owner of the stud farm, defends their actions, stating the dike was necessary to protect their racehorses from inundating training tracks, and that even with the raised dike, their property experienced water levels up to 1.70 meters. He emphasizes that the entire area is impacted when the Gimone overflows, and expresses gratitude to the Beaumont racing association for temporarily housing approximately forty of their horses.
