In Courcoury, a village in Charente-Maritime south of Saintes, residents are navigating severe floods that have rendered local roads impassable, completely isolating the community. The town hall has implemented an unusual transportation solution: a "tractobus," a tractor pulling a trailer, to ferry inhabitants. This initiative, deployed for the third time in five years, has been operational since Monday, February 16th, with the tractor making multiple trips between Courcoury and Courpignac. While other flood-affected areas are using boats, Courcoury's 700 residents rely on this tractor service, which some deem indispensable for their mobility during the ongoing crisis.
