Crues : le ministre de l’Économie appelle les assureurs à la « mobilisation générale » 20.02.2026

French Economy Minister Roland Lescure has called for a "general mobilization" from insurance companies to expedite the compensation of victims affected by recent storms and floods. Meeting with insurers on Friday, Lescure urged them to "roll up their sleeves" to support those impacted by Storm Nils, Storm Pedro, and subsequent exceptional flooding, particularly in the West and Southwest of France. He emphasized that insurers collect premiums to cover such risks and expressed his expectation for swift and efficient payouts. Lescure also reassured the public that standard home and business insurance contracts cover storm and flood damage, regardless of whether a commune is officially declared a natural disaster zone. The minister noted that tens of thousands of French citizens are affected and that precise damage assessments will only be possible once floodwaters recede.
