The Sri Lanka Customs Department has achieved a historic milestone by collecting 1,373.7 billion rupees within the first six months of this year, surpassing the set revenue target of 1,060.5 billion rupees. Through efficient management, an additional 313 billion rupees was earned beyond the target. The total target for the year 2026 has been set at 2,206 billion rupees. Customs spokesperson Sandana Punchihewa expressed confidence that the record of 2.5 trillion rupees earned last year will be broken this year based on current revenue trends. However, revenue from the motor vehicle sector has decreased due to import restrictions on motor vehicles.
