Customs revenue surges 30% in 1H, beats June target by 22% 04.07.2026

Sri Lanka Customs has demonstrated exceptional financial performance during the first half of 2026, collecting Rs. 1.37 trillion in revenue. This figure represents a significant 29.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The surge was primarily driven by enhanced enforcement measures, improved valuation practices, and a notable recovery in import volumes. Specifically, June revenue reached Rs. 225.2 billion, exceeding the monthly target of Rs. 184.9 billion by 22%. This cumulative collection accounts for 62.2% of the Department’s total annual target of Rs. 2,207 billion. Despite the 2026 target being 13.5% lower than the record Rs. 2,551 billion collected in 2025 due to anticipated declines in vehicle imports, the department continues to outperform expectations, following a strong 2025 performance where it exceeded its revised target of Rs. 2,241 billion.
