Dairy Offensive - Berglandmilch invests in expansion at Aschbach site 07.07.2026

Berglandmilch is investing heavily in the expansion of its production site in Aschbach to significantly increase the production of curd cheese (Topfen) and fresh cheese. Through the use of state-of-the-art technology and new filling systems, annual capacity is expected to rise to approximately 15,000 tonnes of curd cheese and 7,000 tonnes of heat-treated fresh cheese. This project is supported by an investment package from the state of Lower Austria, as well as funds from the EU and the federal government. Managing Director Josef Braunshofer attributed this move to growing market interest in these products, particularly among younger consumers. In addition to capacity expansion, the project aims to achieve higher hygiene and efficiency standards as well as new packaging formats. This strategic decision is intended to strengthen the competitiveness of Austria's largest dairy cooperative, secure regional value creation, and ensure long-term perspectives for local agriculture and the Lower Austrian business location.
