Daphne memorial vandalised again after Labour victory celebrations, Occupy Justice says 02.06.2026

The Daphne Caruana Galizia memorial in Valletta has been vandalized again following celebrations of the Labour Party's election victory, according to Occupy Justice. The activist group criticized the act, stating that a democratic country does not attack the memory of a murdered journalist and questioning the Prime Minister's commitment to representing everyone, including those seeking justice. Occupy Justice highlighted the "continuity of hatred" and intolerance towards peaceful protest as evidenced by the repeated attacks on the memorial, which has stood for eight years since Galizia's 2017 murder. Despite numerous instances of destruction, the group has restored the memorial, vowing to continue doing so as long as demands for truth and accountability persist.
