Deadly Russian strikes hammer Kyiv on eve of Trump trip to critical NATO summit 9h ago

Kyiv suffered a devastating Russian missile and drone attack early Monday morning, resulting in at least 10 deaths and dozens of injuries. The assault targeted residential areas, including the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts, leaving multiple apartment blocks damaged and residents trapped. This deadly strike occurred on the eve of a critical NATO summit in Turkey, which US President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend. President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously warned of incoming massive strikes, noting the timing coincided with the upcoming summit and American Independence Day. While the Russian Defense Ministry claimed the use of high-precision weapons against military-industrial and energy sites, Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for Patriot missile systems to defend against advanced Russian threats, such as jet-powered drones. The attack follows a similar ferocious strike last Thursday that killed 30 people in the capital.
