Verriegelter 12V-2x6-Stecker in Dell-PC entdecktvor 6 Stundenheise online 22.02.2026

A recent teardown of a Dell pre-built PC in Japan by Chimolog revealed a novel design for the often problematic 12V-2x6 power connector on its RTX 5070 Ti graphics card. The adapter cable, reportedly manufactured by Amphenol, features a robust mechanical locking mechanism with a large tab for release, designed to ensure a secure connection and prevent the issues associated with previous connectors. Unlike standard adapters, the individual wires are routed separately, mitigating the risk of sharp bends that have been identified as a failure point. Despite this improvement, Dell continues to use an adapter to older PCIe connectors rather than a direct 12V-2x6 cable, likely for compatibility with older power supplies across various PC series. This innovation aims to reduce hardware damage and potential fires caused by improper connector seating, a common issue with delicate PCIe 5 power connectors.
