Denmark and Ukraine enter into defense cooperation agreement 07.07.2026

During the NATO summit in Ankara, Denmark and Ukraine have entered into a comprehensive agreement on closer defense cooperation, which was announced by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The agreement focuses specifically on technological exchange, including cooperation on drone technology, where Ukraine has gained significant experience through the war against Russia. The cooperation entails that Denmark can purchase defense equipment in Ukraine, while Ukraine is given the opportunity to produce equipment in Denmark. The purpose is to strengthen both Danish and European defense as part of a larger European rearmament. Mette Frederiksen emphasized that Ukraine is essential to Europe's security and that the goal is for European countries to be able to defend themselves by 2030. At the same time, NATO countries are expected to agree on a declaration committing them to providing military support to Ukraine totaling 70 billion euros over the next two years.
