Lucie Chadourne-Facon, director of Vigicrues, explained that the slow recession of floodwaters is expected due to the high river levels and saturated soil conditions. The most critical areas are Angers and the downstream Loire River, as well as the Charente River in Charente Maritime, where water levels are still rising before reaching a prolonged plateau.
