France's Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, announced on Thursday that security agents for the SNCF (national railway company) and RATP (Paris public transport authority) will be experimentally equipped with stun guns, also known as Tasers. This initiative, set to begin in the coming weeks, will initially involve 10% of railway police officers, approximately 300 to 400 individuals. The experimental phase will last for three years, starting from the decree's effective date, with an evaluation to follow. The measure aims to enhance the management of risky situations, reduce the need for firearms, and minimize the risk of injury to both passengers and agents within the transport networks.
