A 36-year-old German tourist was found dead in his hotel room in Barranquilla, Colombia, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, during the city's renowned Carnival celebrations. Hotel staff discovered the lifeless body in his room at the Hotel Casa Rueda in the Simón Bolívar district around 11 AM. The deceased had been staying at the hotel since Thursday, February 12, accompanied by a 55-year-old German man, who was found disoriented and received hospital treatment. Police are investigating the death, reviewing surveillance footage that reportedly shows the two men with two women in the early morning hours, with the women leaving approximately 90 minutes later. Preliminary forensic examinations revealed no signs of violence, and investigators are currently suspecting poisoning, with toxicology results pending.
