Deutscher Wetterdienst warnt vor Hochwasser in Deutschland – mehrere Regionen betroffen 24.02.2026

Der Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD) issued a warning on February 24, 2026, at 09:40 Uhr, for rising river levels and flood risks across several German states, including Sachsen-Anhalt, Bayern, Niedersachsen, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This situation stems from an abrupt weather change, with mild temperatures and precipitation following weeks of frost and heavy snowfall, leading to rapid snowmelt. Meteorologists are concerned about the large water content in dense old snow. Specific areas like Coburg, Kronach, and Lichtenfels in North Bavaria are already experiencing floods, while roads in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, such as the B197, are closed due to meltwater. The DWD anticipates Ilse, Bode, Jeetze, and Dumme rivers reaching alarm levels, with Jeetze and Dumme potentially hitting level two by February 25. The ADAC advises caution for drivers.
