Deutschland beendet Unterstützung Raus aus Kabuls Schutzhäusern - und dann? 17.02.2026

The German government, through the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), is ending its support for individuals like Zarmina, an Afghan woman who fled to Pakistan with her children and had a resettlement promise from Germany. Zarmina, who advocated for human rights in Afghanistan, faced arrest and mistreatment in Pakistan before being deported back to Kabul. Despite a temporary arrangement in a German-funded guesthouse, her resettlement promise was revoked in November 2025, along with those of hundreds of other Afghan civil society members. While Germany continued voluntary housing support, it announced the eventual end of assistance. Zarmina, now facing homelessness and fearing Taliban authorities, is pursuing legal action with the support of the Kabul Luftbrücke initiative, which criticizes the government's decision as inhumane.
