Deux détenus surpris en train de tourner un "live" sur TikTok depuis leur cellule de la prison de Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone 23.02.2026

On Saturday, February 21st, at approximately 7:15 AM during morning roll call, prison guards at the Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone penitentiary, near Montpellier, discovered two inmates live-streaming on TikTok from their cell using an iPhone. The live stream was still active when discovered, and the phone, along with its charger, a game controller, and a multimedia key, were seized. The following day, a broader search of several cells uncovered six additional mobile phones, four chargers, four cables, 11 grams of cannabis resin, and 18 grams of suspected heroin. One inmate was found asleep with a phone, charger, and 20 grams of cannabis resin. A local union representative described the situation as "uncontrollable," highlighting the prevalence of prohibited items and the perceived lack of fear among inmates, and called for increased resources and stricter legal measures.
