Dialogue Commission Creating Platform for Consensus, Building Strong State: Deputy Chief Commissioner 03.06.2026

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) is actively establishing a platform for citizens to engage in discussions on critical national issues, aiming to foster consensus and build a robust state. Deputy Chief Commissioner Hirut Gebreselassie stated that Ethiopia is at a crucial point, seeking to resolve long-standing differences through informed dialogue and inclusive consultation. The ENDC, established to facilitate this participatory process, has conducted extensive consultations both domestically and internationally, collecting agendas and promoting public engagement. The process has now reached a decisive stage, with preparations for the main national consultative conference in progress, including organizing collected agendas and mobilizing resources. Hirut emphasized that Ethiopia has created an environment for addressing differences peacefully through structured consultations, proving that consensus can be built on the "supremacy of ideas." The Commission is ensuring the inclusivity of the process by engaging diverse stakeholders and is documenting the entire consultation journey for future learning and potential sharing with other nations.
