Bregtje van der Haak is stepping down as director of the Eye Filmmuseum, as announced by the museum on March 2, 2026. This departure follows a significant restructuring initiated under her leadership, which included the elimination of several dozen jobs late last year due to financial difficulties. Both Van der Haak and the Supervisory Board believe that new leadership is now appropriate for the museum's next phase. Financial advisor John Middelweerd has been appointed as the interim director-administrator, and Van der Haak will remain available until April 1 to facilitate the transition. She expressed her wish for a stable future for Eye.
