Disaster Agency, UN Review Humanitarian Situation 03.06.2026

Somalia's Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and United Nations officials convened a monthly coordination meeting on Tuesday in Mogadishu to evaluate the nation's humanitarian status and bolster aid for communities impacted by ongoing crises. Co-chaired by SoDMA head Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle and UN Deputy Special Representative George Conway, the meeting focused on recent developments and improving assistance delivery. Participants underscored the necessity of enhanced collaboration between governmental bodies and aid organizations to effectively reach populations affected by drought, flooding, and other challenges. Both SoDMA and UN officials committed to reinforcing joint initiatives to support Somalis enduring difficult humanitarian conditions, recognizing the persistent impact of climate shocks, conflict, and displacement on millions requiring aid.
