French customs have dismantled a large counterfeit perfume operation near Girona, Spain, seizing over 1.2 million bottles valued at approximately 95 million euros. This operation, which began with a truck inspection in Montpellier in October 2025, involved the clandestine manufacturing and packaging of perfumes mimicking major brands. The counterfeit products were distributed throughout Europe, with France being a significant transit point. Authorities highlighted the triple danger posed by these fakes: health risks, economic predation on legitimate businesses, and evasion of public finances. This seizure represents the largest of its kind ever recorded in Europe, following a previous seizure of 82,000 bottles in France in November 2025.
