Dänischer König besucht Grönland Frederik auf symbolträchtiger Mission 18.02.2026

Danish King Frederik X arrived in Nuuk, Greenland, on a symbolic visit aimed at strengthening ties and showing solidarity following U.S. President Donald Trump's past territorial claims. While some residents expressed disappointment that the visit occurred after the peak of the crisis, others acknowledged it as a positive step, especially since the situation has somewhat de-escalated. Royal house expert Thomas Larsen noted that the King's timing was deliberate, avoiding political action during the acute phase of the dispute and waiting until the crisis was contained. Frederik, who has a personal connection to Greenland, having previously participated in an expedition there, aims to connect with the people, particularly youth, and reassure them that they are not alone. His three-day visit includes engagements with kindergarten children, high school students, and citizens, as well as a planned visit to a Danish armed forces training center in Kangerlussuaq.
