DOJ won’t investigate killing of Minneapolis woman shot 14.01.2026

The Department of Justice will not investigate the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross on January 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated there is "no basis" for a criminal civil rights investigation, despite widespread protests and a national poll indicating over half of Americans believe the shooting was unjustified. Good was killed when she moved her car forward near the ICE agent. The incident has fueled protests against the Trump administration's immigration enforcement policies, particularly those targeting Somali immigrants suspected of welfare fraud. In a notable development, the DOJ is reportedly shifting its focus to investigate Good's widow, a move that has led to the resignation of Acting U.S. Attorney of Minnesota Joe Thompson and other federal prosecutors.
