Dollar. Government met IMF reserve target for the first time and is one step away from annual goal 03.07.2026

The Argentine government achieved a key milestone by meeting for the first time the target for the accumulation of net international reserves agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the program signed in April 2025. According to private estimates, the Central Bank (BCRA) accumulated around US$6.3 billion under the institution's methodology, far exceeding the US$3.5 billion committed for the first semi-annual review in June. This result contrasts with the shortfall recorded in 2025, when the country missed the target by about US$10 billion due to the dollarization of portfolios before the legislative elections, forcing the government to request a waiver and recalibrate targets downward for 2026.
