DOSB-Boss Tabor schlägt Olympia-Alarm: „Wir müssen die Lücke schließen“ 22.02.2026

DOSB-Vorstand Leistungssport Olaf Tabor (55) reflected on Germany's performance at the recent Winter Olympics, admitting that the goal of a third-place finish in the medal standings was not achieved. Despite this, Tabor expressed pride in the athletes' overall efforts, noting that the total medal count was comparable to the previous Beijing Games. He highlighted numerous fourth-place finishes as a source of disappointment, emphasizing the close margins of defeat. Tabor also addressed concerns about the declining performance in disciplines like biathlon and freestyle skiing, stating that Germany must focus its finite financial resources on areas with medal potential. He acknowledged that while the Games provided authentic moments, issues with fan proximity and varying atmospheric flair at different venues need to be addressed with the IOC.
