Drogenboss „El Mencho“ getötet: Mexiko-Kartell nimmt Rache – Warnung an Touristen in Urlaubsparadies 23.02.2026

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, internationally known as "El Mencho" and the leader of Mexico's most powerful drug cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), has died following a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco. The 59-year-old succumbed to his injuries while being transported by helicopter to the capital, a death confirmed by the Mexican Ministry of Defense with US intelligence assistance. His demise triggered immediate and widespread violence across multiple Mexican states, including Jalisco, Michoacán, and Guanajuato, with CJNG members blocking roads with burning vehicles and setting fire to businesses. The unrest has prompted warnings to tourists in popular destinations like Puerto Vallarta and the Yucatán Peninsula, leading to flight cancellations by several North American airlines and the postponement of sporting events.
